How to use a ruler for drawing | Tutorial
Some time ago I made a few pages using this simple technique and just now started decorating and doodling with black pens. Today decided to show you how simple it is to create something this colorful and messy. I know you love messy!
These pages can be used in various different ways from art projects to inserts for planners. The process is very fun and lets you get creative in every step. You won't even need a brush, how cool is that?
So let's start!
All you will need:
- A ruler
- Paint (I used simple tempera paints, gouache and acrylic paints should also work perfectly)
- Paper (use thicker one, that can hold paint very well)
Tip: Find a brush and a pallet if you want to mix colors! I used paint straight from the tube, so didn't need those.
Gather all the supplies and start creating. The process is messy and a lot of fun. You can combine different techniques on this one. Use a brush if you want or add some details with stamps!
Tip: Have a tissue near you to clean off the ruler!
Experiment with colors and stokes. Instead of a ruler try using plastic cards or other supplies you find at your home. Every stroke will be different!
This is a bunch of backgrounds that I created using this technique! It is so simple and allows you to work really fast.
Let yourself to be creative and after a little work you will have this nice pile of ready to use backgrounds for journaling, scrapbooking, doodling and drawing! You can even make these pages in your smash book, not only on separate pages.
It is simple to scan these backgrounds and use it for creating digital artwork.
