Professional ALPHA design markers | Review
Recently I bought myself a present - new art supplies. A lot of stationery lovers would know that amazing feeling of having new pens, paints and other cool stuff to play with. Something mesmerizing about it!
So I was looking for some new coloring pens for a while now and bought ALPHA design markers. Based on high quality non-toxic alcohol ink these pens have two tips with different width - fine and broad one. After trying them out I decided to share my opinion and give you a review about it!
These designer and artist markers are made for professional and creative use: sketching, coloring, drawing. They can be used on various surfaces: paper, cardboard, canvas and many more. As they are not very cheap I bought two ones in different colors. I saw it is possible to purchase a set of 36 markers for $120 on amazon. I thought that it's better to try out a few before buying the whole set. Clever me!
I made a pattern on my sketchbook and a few other drawings with these cuties. It felt really good using them. Nice, vivid colors and very comfortable grip made the whole drawing process very relaxing!
However, I have some observations and could name a few pros & cons about these ALPHA design markers.
- Light, pastel colors
As I was looking for pastel tones these were just perfect.
- Good blending together
I liked a lot that there aren't any darker colors when strokes of the same color are overlapping! After alcohol dries you see clean and beautiful lines. This one is a big plus. Although, when I tried drawing with other color on top there appeared dark tones.
- Two tips with different shapes
- Comfortable to use
- Bleeding through paper
And this one is a huge deal! I know that it's an alcohol based ink and some bleeding through is not a big surprise. But these markers made me use a spread sheet beneath the paper to save other pages. And I was not very happy about it!
These are pretty expensive ones to play around so I am not really sure if I would purchase a full set.
In conclusion, I wouldn't call my search for that perfect pen finished! If colors bleeding through paper doesn't scare you these ALPHA design markers are really worth to be considered. For my use they weren't perfect and I will keep searching, but they will for sure be put in use for drawing on thicker papers and cardboard. I hope this was useful!
